As part of the Ballarat Line Upgrade, we have sought your feedback on duplication of track at Bacchus Marsh and upgrades to Wendouree Station.
We are proposing to duplicate three kilometres of track between Bacchus Marsh station and the future Maddingley stabling, Kerrs Road.
Duplicating the rail line in this area provides more space for trains to pass each other as well as improving train operations by enabling more trains to move in and out of the new Maddingley stabling facilities.
To facilitate construction of the new track, we will make a request to the Minister for Planning that he exercise his powers under the Planning and Environment Act 1987 to amend the Moorabool Planning Scheme.
Thank you for providing your feedback on the additional track duplication.
As part of the Ballarat Line Upgrade, a second platform and new tracks will be built at Wendouree. This will create enough space for trains to pass each other at Wendouree station for the first time, fixing the current problem that sees delayed services from Melbourne terminate at Ballarat and passengers forced onto replacement buses because trains can’t pass each other beyond Ballarat.
The upgraded Wendouree station will also include a new accessible pedestrian link between the new and existing platform, and additional security, lighting and signage.
Thank you for your feedback on the proposed station concept layout and project planning.
